Brett Cohen released a you tube video last week that has gone viral and is slated to make the round ot talk shows this week. Brett Cohen is also a very talented musician.

PONTE VEDRA, FL, August 28, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ — Who is Brett Cohen?

Brett Cohen is also a musician and a songwriter with a new release, I Just Want to Get You Home.

Who is Brett Cohen? A fellow by the name of Brett Cohen released a YouTube video that has gone viral. Since the release of the video, Brett has appeared on Good Morning America and is slated to appear on many more talk shows this week.

Did you know Brett Cohen is a very talented musician? Brett writes, sings, and performs.

Normal guy, Brett Cohen punked a bunch of Times Square tourists recently when he hired a crew of cameramen, bodyguards and assistants to follow him around 42nd Street and pretended to be someone special. It worked! People thought he was famous and tried to get his autograph or have him pose for a picture. Brett dressed up like a typical celebrity and was accompanied by an entourage of two professional bodyguards, two assistants, and photographers pretending to be paparazzi. While the assistants and photographers waited for Brett to exit the 49th street marquee at NBC Studios, they started a buzz that a big star was about to walk out, thus making it worth their while to wait and get a picture. Many asked the crew whom Brett was and no answer was given. They were forced to either make something up, or just take a picture with him in hopes that their Facebook friends or Twitter followers might have a better idea.

How many Brett Cohens are there in the US alone? Many, for sure.

Now, the real question: Who is this Brett Cohen and is this the same Brett Cohen who punked out the world last week? Watch and listen to I Just Want to Get You Home and you decide. Is this the same Brett Cohen and is he a real ladies man that just want to get you home?

J.J. CROWNE: THE MUSICAL CHAMELEON

Just as certain chameleons have the ability to change colors at the drop of a hat, so too can J.J. Crowne aka “The Eclectic One.”  J.J.’s array of colors comes in the form of musical notes, and this artist has a deep and interesting history.  Originally from Jersey and later moving to South Florida at 15, Crowne started writing songs at 11, picked up piano/keyboards at 16 and learned how to play guitar at just 9 years old.  The music bug had taken hold of J.J. at a very young age and this self-taught musician hasn’t looked back since!

Listen: http://jjcrowne.com/wordpress/music/

J.J. later attended Oberlin Music Conservatory, where he learned about formal musical composition and arranging for the first time, and the musical chameleon was definitely taking shape.  Besides playing in nightclub cover bands for five years and then signing his first record deal at 22, radio enters the picture in a BIG way.  In the late ‘70s J.J. turned his sights to commercial jingles for various stations and ad agencies in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.  He actually became quite well-known for it, which led him down the road of writing and recording music for films, TV shows and theatrical productions throughout the late ‘70s into the ‘80s &‘90s.  Crowne even landed a deal with Fox TV back in 1992 where he came up with the background music behind an episode of “America’s Most Wanted.”   J.J. also got involved with PBS TV as well as Univision’s “Yo Quiero Ser Estrella” show, along with doing many voice-overs for television, radio programs and even a few documentary films.  Having won “Addy Awards” for two of his commercials and then becoming an ASCAP Full Writer Member, J.J. seemed to be on top or maybe not?  Just as a crown is worn by a king, this Crowne wasn’t fully satisfied and a little frustrated with the “lack of real success in the music biz” so he became an attorney for the indigent.  I mean, why not? This guy’s a chameleon after all with no desire to stay the same, and all the while laughing in the face of that stale, same-old, same-old fellow from around the way.  Constant change and ever evolving is what J.J. Crowne is all about.  In the realm of being a perfectionist, a Crowne is to be worn properly and so J.J. must wear it right.

FIDDLER TIM SMITH

Tim Smith Biography

Tim Smith was born on May 29th, 1955 in Havre de Grace, Maryland. In 1968 the family moved to Sparta, North Carolina. Tim has been playing and learning fiddle tunes since age 7. From ages 9 to 13 he studied classical music and played in the school orchestras in the state of Maryland. All the while, he continued his study and passion for fiddling, playing music with family and friends. His Father played good rhythm guitar and would accompany him on the fiddle tunes during the early years. His Mom and Dad were always encouraging and supportive of all his musical explorations.

Tim has a rich musical heritage of fiddling. His Grandfather Kilby Reeves, of Sparta, NC, was an Appalachian style fiddler, reminiscent of the late fiddler Tommy Jarrell.  Uncles Tom and Bert Reeves, both Bluegrass fiddlers, have also been a great source of encouragement and mentors. Kilby Reeves was an early Galax, VA fiddlers convention champion, sought after square dance fiddler and has been credited with teaching the legendary fiddler Art Wooten, who was also from Sparta, NC, to play the fiddle.

After relocating to Sparta, Tim was sought after to play shows, dances, churches and fiddle contests. He played locally with several fine musicians, to name a few, such as Fred Roupe, Bill Joines, The Country Five (a country band featuring Roger Evans and the Wyatt brothers—James, Joe and Jackie).

Shortly following his graduation from Alleghany High School in 1973, Tim won Lester Flatt’s fiddle contest in Pinnacle, NC. The first place prize was a guest appearance with Lester Flatt and The Nashville Grass on The Grand Ole Opry and that he did, in early 1974.  That great honor led Tim to a professional career in the music business. Since then, Tim has been awarded various prestigious fiddle prizes including “The North Carolina State Championship” 1st place fiddle prize in 1976,   1st place fiddle prize at the world famous “Galax Fiddlers Convention”  in 1977,  and  “The World Championship” fiddle prize at the internationally renowned  “Union Grove Fiddlers Convention” in 1978, to name a few.

Tim has performed and recorded with many notable musicians through the years. From 1979 to 1982, he performed and recorded with the “Bluegrass Cardinals”. Tim performed, as a Bluegrass Boy, with “Bill Monroe and The Bluegrass Boys”. He has performed with Lester Flatt and The Nashville Grass, Jim and Jesse and The Virginia Boys, The Country Gentlemen, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Roy Acuff, Del McCoury, Tony Rice, Country Gazette, David Holt and many others.

Currently, there are six, “Tim Smith” CD releases;  “1978 World Champion Fiddler”, “Favorite Pastimes”, “Straight From The Heart”,  “Plain and Simple”, “The Lonesome Blueridge” and the latest 2012 release, “Fiddler Tim Smith & Friends,” on the TRS Records label. Tim lives in Kernersville, NC with his wife, Anita. They have two children, Melissa and Andrew.

Los Angeles, CA — (SBWIRE) — 06/29/2012 — Babble went global on May 24th with their new album, “Shape of the Flux.” Rob Williams and Karen Langley (guitars and voice respectively) are really excited having signed a record and digital distribution licensing deal with U.S.A. based label Musik and Film – this means worldwide promotion and distribution of Babble’s music.

“It’s been really inspiring to get this interest because we have an extensive catalogue of music and vocal ideas that don’t necessarily fit into the mainstream. Musik and Film makes a point of searching for this kind of artist and so we really hit it off with them,” says Karen.

Terry Nails, VP A&R, and formerly of Ozzy Osbourne says of Babbles’ music, “Very rarely do I find music as completely original, rhythmically sophisticated, beautifully played and exactly arranged as the music of Babble. Babble’s highly original electro/acoustic style of music defies categorization. I found it very engaging and thoroughly enjoyable – coming from a grumpy music snob such as myself that’s saying quite a lot.”

The definition of Babble is,”To utter a meaningless confusion of words or sounds.” The sounds that come from the group Babble, once assembled, form a meaningful collaboration of music that moves and soothes the soul. The music of Babble cannot be categorized into any genre. It just is. The basic bones of Babble are Rob Williams (guitars/synthesis) and Karen Langley (lyrics and vocals/vocal arrangements). Rob’s distinctive guitar sound and style folds around Karen’s evocative vocals to produce the powerful and original Babble sound.

Joined by a shared interest in the healing force of music and sound, Babble is a moveable feast that can include a variety of musicians at performances. Both Rob and Karen have worked with many bands/musicians and theatrical groups spanning long careers. “Music is the conversation, the one we can have at the Universal level – everyone can join in”, says Karen. Rob and Karen are often joined by; Paul Smith (Bass/Double Bass), Tony Bird (Drums/percussion), Ed Steelefox (Drums/percussion/wicked dance moves) Eric Hej (drums/percussion/Wildman), Jon Sharp (drums/percussion) and Paul Bryant (Bass guitars).

By Milliea Taylor McKinney

In the ever changing world of merry-go-round ups and downs in the music industry, you will often find many artists living in the world of yesteryear. These are known in the industry as the wannabes that “never are,” because they fail to accept the fact music and the industry has changed.

Hello, I am Milliea Taylor McKinney, professional award-winning songwriter and music professional entrepreneur. Having been in the industry for many years, I have seen and worked directly with successful Grammy, Multi-Platinum labeled artists. I have also worked with professional award-winning promoters, tour managers, and CEOs of record labels who have struggled with the most important aspect of the music industry – staying fresh, current, in demand, and in the news.

Serving in every facet of the industry, I am here to personally tell you the facts about music and what to expect while you journey on the ride of your life, IF you have what it takes to be among the true professionals in the music industry.

Filtering your every move and keeping your fans well informed is a vital part of solidifying your foundation as you build a career and a stage on which to perform.

Musik and Film recognizes the needs of artists and are here to lend their experience, knowledge, and guidance as many of us have traveled and learned from the best in the industry.  So you the artist can stay ahead of the music industry and be more than prepared when and should you get that 15 minutes of fame.

When the curtains rise and you stand on the stage, you have less than two minutes to grab your audience and win them over. In reality you have even less time to impress someone in the industry that may have the ability to open a door for your career.

You get very few chances, if any, in this industry, so make them count!

No longer will you find record labels that give you the red carpet treatment, pick up your tab, and fulfill your every desire in order to acquire your signature on a record contract. Those days are long gone. If you are a serious artist that believes in your talent then you must invest in yourself and in your career – not much different than going to college for a degree to secure your future.

Today you must secure your future in the music business by investing in the necessities for success in the industry that will build your reputation and increase exposure. You will undoubtedly need to show off your talent to reap the rewards of fame, fortune, and accomplishment.

The music industry is very competitive and takes no favorites – only the very best. Success is evident in a popular artist with a large fanbase and high ticket sales. If you can accomplish this, you will reap the rewards of music opportunity.

So you want to be a rock star, but do you have what it takes? And are you willing to pay the price?

If your answer is “yes” then get pumped. And get ready to make music that not only sounds good but sells even better. In doing so you will find that you are more likely to be received by those in the industry, and you will be taken more seriously by those that truly matter and can make a difference in determining your success. If you have the essential resources in promoting your name and your artistry, you can achieve your goals.

So put on your seat belt and get ready for the ride of a lifetime where bright lights, music, and fast-paced adventure opens the door to opportunity and experience as you live, learn, and experience music in the fast lane.

Not everyone has what it takes. But know this: There are many extremely gifted and talented artists out there, but talent is only half the climb. The other half results from your investment in yourself and your goals.

The Indie artist today can  know that  the staff at Musik and Film are more than prepared and willing to help you achieve the recognition you deserve in being the next rising star.

Myth Of The Record Fairy – Record Labels And Indie Artists

July 24, 2012
Post Image

Musik and Film and its associated labels Cinderella, Out of the Box, and Musik and Film Records have been proactive in changing with the times in the world of music. We have the best distribution obtainable on the planet through Sony and Universal. We have developed our own radio software for digital delivery to thousands of radio stations all over the world. We have our own in house publicist with a proven 30-year track record. We can get your music heard. But it is now up to the Indie artist to bear those costs associated with publicity and promotion. Industry experts agree:

MediaShift’s Jason Feinberg writes, “The bank is broken, and until investing in an artist’s career is proven to be a profitable endeavor, it will be difficult for any artist to find a benefactor to fund the labor necessary to push an artist beyond their sphere of friends and into a larger network.”

Steve Guttenberg of CNET says, “The big labels are signing fewer and fewer new bands, and I’m predicting that by 2012 they’ll exist just to license their back catalogs. There will just be a smattering of small to midsize Indie labels; established artists will roll their own and self-promote their music.”

All About Jazz’s B.J. Jansen poetically states, “We all realize that the traditional record label model is as obsolete as a typewriter.”

Whether we like it or not, the days of a record label offering to pay for an Indie artist’s development and promotion are over, but please don’t take our word for it, we have done our research – we encourage you – the artist- to do yours as well.

Musik and Film Announces Launch of Musik Radio Promotions with its Own Radio Delivery Web Platform

July 23, 2012
Post Image

Musik Radio Promotions now offers it own proprietary radio delivery web platform, delivering high quality, radio-ready files directly to DJs & PD and giving the artist full airplay reporting instantly.

So you’ve recorded a hit song. Now what? Give five copies to all your friends?

Radio promotion used to be complex. Radio promoters had certain genres and geographical regions they worked within. These promoters over the years developed relationships with the DJ’s and Program Directors. They neatly packaged the artist’s music and mailed copies to the radio stations. Generally the promoters had approximately 200 stations in any genre with which they dealt.

Promotion was costly. If artists wanted world exposure they had to hire numerous promoters who each dealt with a specific region. The cost of reaching the radio stations within the world was staggering.

The digital age has changed all that. It has also changed the delivery method of delivering the artist’s music to radio stations. Most radio stations now accept digital delivery of Digital Press Kits (DPK’s) . DPK’s include the artist’s promo picture along with a bio, links, and tracks.

There are several digital delivery radio promotional services out there. One major digital deliverer of music sends out groups of twenty artists to send one digital blast to radio. Others are “pay to play.”

Musik and Film promotions decided there has to be a better way. We looked at all the available delivery services in the world. Every one of them utilized their own radio lists for mass delivery. We were determined to discover how to utilize today’s technology and deliver the same personalization of music and artist delivery to world radio as in days past.

Musik and Film’s Web Designer, Seth Fuller, started working on Musik and Film’s own software delivery system. Our team at Musik and Film, including Stephen Wrench, President, and Terry Nails, A&R, started assembling their old radio contacts from their days on tour. We also started making radio calls and developing new contacts around the globe in every genre of music.

We are very proud of our new personalized radio delivery. Musik Radio Promotions now has a radio database of 12,500 radio stations and growing.

The best part – the artist is in control. The artist picks their own market and knows what they are getting. We furnish the station list and the artist can target by station genres, regions, or the entire world. We are using new technology but utilizing the personalization with same day statistics reporting, graphics, single-song personalized promotions, and there are no multiple-artist “E-blasts.”

You want what we all want: a hit song and downloads for sales. The only way to get that is through FM, AM, and internet radio plays. The only way to get that in any volume is via massive promotion. That used to be very expensive and simply unavailable to most people. No more.

So you’ve recorded a hit song – Now what? That answer just became a whole lot clearer with the personalized radio promotion plans available at Musik Radio Promotions.

We accept only the best talent, so to audition for your own personalized radio promotions plan, please visit : https://musikandfilm.com/get-promoted

Los Angeles, CA — (SBWIRE) — 07/02/2012 — Muzart and its founder, Pat Melfi, have signed a deal with Musik and Film and President, Stephen Wrench, to exclusively represent the Platinum Library of music in a series of compilations. The Alliance Between Muzart And Musik And Film Will Enable The Platinum Library Of Legendary Music To Be Heard World Wide In Support Of Music Education As It Will Fund Music And Art Legacy In Public School Programs.

Pat Melfi is known in the music industry as a five-time promoter of the year and the former VP to MCA Records. Forming a partnership with Ken Kragen, Ted Fujimoto, Brandon Frank, and Ellis Paillet, allowed for the development of Muzart World Foundation, a public charity, that will fund Music and Art Programs. The foundation purchased a large catalog of music called the Platinum Library.

This catalog includes over 900 Top Ten Billboard charting hit songs that represent a chronology of what has made American music what it is today – legends in all genres of music such as: Bill Haley, Little Richard, Bo Diddley, Fats Domino, Alice Cooper, John Anderson, Louis Armstrong, Atalnta Rhythm Section, Count Basie, Beau Brummels, Tony Bennett, George Bonds, Eric Burdon and the Animals, Glen Campbell, Carter Family, Nat King King Cole, Bing Crosby, Merle Haggard. These are just a few of the hundreds of artists within the 5,405 tracks. Rhonda Wrench, VP, Musik and Film, says, “there will eventually be thousands of compilations.”

Rhonda and Stephen Wrench are both former educators who understand that students who have arts-rich experiences in school do better across the board than those who do not. Rhonda says, “we have a passion to make a difference in some way and see this as a great opportunity to do so.”

Muzart World Foundation has many plans that will enhance learning in schools and prepare students to be successful, fulfilled and productive citizens. Their plans include embedding world class music and creative arts curricula in many schools in need of these programs without the extra tax burden or federal funding. This will create the opportunity for children to experience the magical moments of creativity and expression while enhancing the level of higher learning in other subjects such as math and science.

No one can do everything, but everyone can do something in support of a child and the future of music and art education. Together we are empowered to make the difference – especially when it comes to our children and their future. There are no excuses – its our responsibility.
