Carol Strickland single, ‘Bitterness and Pain’, feeling no pain with Musik Radio Promotions

May 14, 2013
Post Image

Carol Strickland is feeling no pain these days, as his single, ‘Bitterness and Pain’, is being heard on thousands of stations worldwide.

After signing a record and promotions deal with Musik and Film a few short months ago, ‘Pouring Rain’, Carol’s EP was released for distribution. Musik Radio Promotions began a campaign for the single, ‘Bitterness and Pain’, and immediately captured the attention of radio station managers across the globe including the BBC network and ECMA reporting stations.

Stephen Wrench says of Carol, “he writes with honesty and sings with emotion. Carol draws you in as he tells his stories in song”.

” Without any pretentiousness, Carol Strickland  is true to his craft and easily demonstrates his compassion for each lyric, whether it concerns an abusive father in “Bitterness and Pain”, a love on the verge of being lost as in “Pouring Rain,” or an anthem of encouragement to givers in “Help Your Fellow Man. His “Good Intentions” project is a wonderful collection of a man who feels deeply for life, sings from the soul, and reminds all of us of our frailties and faith. It is his portrayal of faith and understanding of the struggle often to maintain it that sets Carol Strickland aside from other tune smiths.” Wayne Morton Operations Manager (Ret.)96.3 WGOG

Carol states, “After years of struggling to make it to the Country Radio airways and jacklegg promotion companies taking advantage of what money I had to spend. GOD brought me MUSIK AND FILM and I am more than satisfied. STEPHEN and Rhonda have truly brought this dream of mine to life. Being picked up by the BBC AND THE ECMA. Having more spins in 48 hours than I’ve had my entire music career.

And Carol can look forward to many more “spins” to come!

Dustin Walker Signs Record/Promotions Deal with Musik And Film

May 9, 2013
Post Image

Seventeen year-old Dustin Walker’s exuberance for life is infectious as he exclaims on various posts on facebook, “All my rockin fans! I have missed you guys so much!! Thank you so much for all the new likes!! You guys are the best it means so much to me! I couldn’t do it without you all!

Dustin’s enthusiasm has brought him thus far as an accomplished musician, songwriter and actor with stage, film, and television experience. In March, Walker added record label and promotions deal to his long list of accomplishments by signing an international distribution and radio promotions package contract with Musik and Film Records.

Walker’s path was determined since the age of two, when Ronnie Grinel brought him on stage; as a result, Walker has been writing and performing ever since he can remember.

Walker may be chronologically young, but he has a maturity beyond his years. Much of this can be traced to his close ties with his family. His father, Jeff, a guiding force in his life says of his son, “The kid is a complete work-a-holic, not too many kids have this kind of drive”. Dustin’s deep affection for his family was reiterated in a facebook post recently exclaiming, “ How do you guys like my new hair color? Thank you Grandmum for doing my hair I love it!!! =) “

Walker has been playing guitar since the age of five, crafting original songs drawing from strong influences obtained in his experience performing with Grammy-Award-Winner Rick Springfield. Rick has said of Dustin, “I love being a part of someone’s life like that.” In 2010, Dustin performed onstage playing lead guitar for Rick Springfield who appears in the documentary film by Yellow Rick Road Productions about Springfield, An Affair of the Heart with the trailer featuring  Dustin at 1:59.

His label, MusikandFilm, have encouraged Dustin to team up with a variety of seasoned musicians/writers to hone his craft and to just have fun; And he has taken the advice to heart!

Dustin traveled to VA to play  at several venues.  Dustin led crazed performances at the 909 Saloon and the  Cheese Burger In Paradise in Fredericksburg with the Toby Fairchild Project. Dustin posted to his friends on facebook, “It was an amazing, rockin, late night!! We all worked very hard and did amazing!!”

Walker was invited to a writing session with Kevin Chalfant (Journey, The Storm, Survivor, Nelson, 707s), His pumped comments following said it all , “Had an amazing day in the studio with the great Kevin Chalfant we rocked it! I can’t wait for you guys to hear the new song!!”

Then it was a rush on to travel to Coal City, IL. John III of Platinum, a great cover band out of Chicago, requested Dustin to play a 30-song set of 70s and 80s, as the lead singer was out sick.  After learning some of the songs in the car on the way over to Gippers II, Dustin and Platinum Band were reviewed as having “one rockin’ night”! Dustin’s enthusiasm was evident as he posted to facebook, “Last night was one of the most rockin nights of my life!! I had such an amazing time being able to perform with The Amazing Rockin Platinum and the Great Brian Durbin from Love Blast! “

Dustin will be releasing an EP, ‘Between the Lines’, soon to be announced.

Dustin Walker does not take this place he has found in life  for granted. His love for life and people spill over and touches everyone – everywhere he goes.  He has a gift of spreading joy – and it is a gift that is sure to carry him – wherever he wants to go.

How Musik Radio Promotions gets your music heard and played in 80 countries

April 25, 2013
Post Image

Musik Radio Promotions has over 75,000 radio stations and 250,000 stations with syndicated networks and station affiliates in every genre in 80 countries. We literally have just about every radio station in the US, UK, Australasia, Ireland, Scotland, and thousands of stations in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. 93% of our stations are FM stations. We cover most Billboard, Cashbox and many other reporting stations and charts around the world. We promote to most major networks including BBC, Sirius, I-Heart and many others. We have charted artists in the top 10 in many charts around the world.

So, who is Musik and Film?

Most of the principals and associates at Musik and Film and Musik Radio Promotions are musicians and have toured the world extensively as members of internationally recognized artists.

We realized that radio in the US is controlled by major labels as “Gatekeepers” , meaning Major US radio corporations that positioned themselves as the “Gatekeepers” . They control almost 75% of the US radio market. This left 25% of possible stations within the US that would consider playing an Indie artist’s music. It’s a big world out there and we found out if you can get enough airplay outside of the US, it follows that the US market is then forced to listen and be receptive to playing your music.

Radio Promotion was done for decades regionally. Meaning radio promotion companies charged a fee usually starting at $2500 USD and up to mail your music to a few hundred radio stations in a specific genre and then call them to urge them to play you. But it’s no longer a regional market – it’s a World Market.

As such, we started calling radio programmers around the world. We promised them that we would never send more than 4 artists in any one genre in any one week. We also promised them that we would be selective and only send the best artists and not send them anything that would not stand up to any other major artist. Radio in turn promised us they would listen.

So, what does this mean for you – the artist?

Radio outside of the US works differently. The rest of the world for the most part does not have a top 30 that they play over and over. They have what they call “Radio Presenters” . These presenters each develop their own play lists based on what the audience wants to hear. And most stations outside the US are not one specific genre. Most stations play a variety of music and have shows that feature 2 to 4 hours of rock, then pop, then country and every other genre.

Musik Radio has developed its own software that will deliver a high quality DPK to radio PDs. The DPK  includes the artist’s promo picture, press quotes, web and social links, bios and of course their music. The DPK is created by us and then approved by the artist. Once approved, we send the DPK to radio programmers all over the world. Radio can stream and listen and then decide if they want to download it for airplay. We provide weekly reporting to every artist for the life of the single, which has ranged from a minimum of 6 weeks to a maximum of over a year for some artists.

Benefits to the Indie Artist:

  1. Collect 100% of airplay royalties around the world.
  2. Touring, it is impossible to successfully tour unless people know who you are. Use the radio airplay and charts to successfully tour any geographical area.

Costs? We design packages for the artist based on a single or multiple tracks.  We can also add old fashioned radio calls to radio programmers urging them to listen and play your music. All packages include a world press release and promotion.

How does an artist get started?

Experience has proved to Musik Radio Promoters what radio will play and will not play.

Submit your track for review to our team of producers.

We want your music – heard AND played.

Adrianna Freeman, rising country star, climbs the charts on cashbox with promotions by Musik Radio

April 20, 2013
Post Image

Cashbox Magazine Music Charts, has been reporting Adrianna Freeman’s song, “Either You Do or You Don’t” for weeks.  The week of April 12, 2013 is no different as she charts at #2 along with country greats such as Ashley Monroe, Tim McGraw and Martina McBride.

Adrianna’s career as a country artist had stalled after being chosen as one of 12 artists with Teddy Gentry’s Cracker Barrel Contest for “Best New Nashville”. Adrianna’s bio states, “In accordance with the Best New Nashville album’s May of 2011 release, a national competition was launched, where fans were asked to vote for their favorite artist. The facilitators’ of the contest told Adrianna that she won the competition by a landslide. Even after winning the contest and Mr. Gentry’s star-power, Adrianna was still being told that there was no “market” for her music”.

Finally in the summer of 2012, after being introduced by Cathy Lemmon of Nashville’s ADN, Adrianna met with Stephen Wrench, President of Musik and Film. and he was blown away by Adrianna’s voice. Adrianna signed with Musik and Film Records and a global radio campaign was began by Musik Radio Promotions.

In Oct. 2012, Adrianna received accolades from Brian Clough, CMA International Broadcaster of the Year 2009, after receiving her DPK from Musik Radio Promotions.  Clough wrote, “Sheer class… an eclectic mix of light and shade of mid tempo and gentle songs which shows off her vocal range and quality, sometimes smokey and gentle, but always meaningful and believable.” Clough’s glowing review of Freeman catapulted her debut album, Either You Do or You Don’t‘ ,to quickly gain traction in the BBC network.

Adrianna is now charting on too many charts to list, but is being played on 60,000+ stations all over the globe. Her “market” is the world. Because of the massive amount of airplay, Adrianna received due to the strategy of Musik Radio Promotions, Adrianna has now caught the attention of some of those in Nashville, and is now recording a new album.

Adrianna recently stated, “Stephen I just want to thank you and Rhonda-I have worked for 11 years, playing second fiddle to everyone else. Being looked over and passed over for other artists. It feels so good to be with people who believe in me and my music. For so long I felt like it was just me, my family, a notebook , and some songs. I have been promised so many things by so many people in the music industry that I thought I would never be able to trust anyone else in this business again. BUT- I trust you and Ms. Rhonda! I am so thankful that God lead my family to you, I really can’t thank you guys enough for helping to renew my faith in this business once again. With God’s help- I am starting to really believe that we can go all the way!!!!”

Adrianna Freeman is on her way!

Musik Radio is a major radio promotion company, with 27,000+ verified 95% FM radio stations in our database;  150,000+ with syndication, which is available to artists and labels. Musik Radio’s  Wall of Success has artists charting all over the world!

King Errisson & Wolf Entertainment Find a New Throne with Musik Radio Promotions

April 18, 2013
Post Image

Hellmut Wolf, of Wolf  Entertainment and Musik Radio Promotions have partnered to provide Wolf’s artists with access to the global market of radio airplay.

King Errisson, signed to Wolf Entertainment, and his new single, “In My Secret Life“, is set  to be promoted to Musik Radio’s  massive network of radio stations around the world!

Referring to King Errisson as Mr. Kool or the King of Kool is more than fitting due to his slick ‘n’ smooth vocal delivery. The voice reminds one of the likes of say a Barry White or Isaac Hayes (RIP to both) just due to that coolness factor displayed vocally. The buck doesn’t stop at singing though for King by no means because actually Errisson’s claim to fame is that he is a world-class percussionist/conga player. King has even been a part of Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Neil Diamond’s touring band since 1976. Mr. Diamond even went so far as to call King Errisson “the best percussionist in the world”. BIG words from a BIG-TIME musician but it doesn’t end there.

King has been surrounded by music royalty throughout his entire career working with some real heavy hitters in the music biz like: Ringo Starr, Blood Sweat & Tears, Barry White, The Carpenters, Lou Rawls, Johnny Mathis, Barbra Streisand, Bobby Darin, David Cassidy and many others. Quincy Jones himself once said: “All I can say is that if you’re talking about musicians with a fantastic sense of time and dynamics, then you have to put King’s name at the top of the conversation. Welcome to the King’s Kingdom, it is a sound you’ll be glad you found.” Furthermore, Errisson has been dubbed the “unsung hero of Motown” by authors Ray Singleton & the one-and-only Berry Gordy in their books due to King’s work with some of Motown’s finest such as: Michael Jackson, The Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, Diana Ross and many others. It’s not all song & dance for King Kool as he has also tried his hand at acting. King has appeared in several movies like: “Uptown Saturday Night” with Bill Cosby & Sidney Poitier, “Rollerball” starring Sean Connery and the 1980 remake of “The Jazz Singer” with Neil Diamond.

King Errisson’s Caribbean roots come to play in his featured release “In My Secret Life” that blends together a sunny island vibe with light ‘n’ airy jazz. The new track is sure to be a success as it hits airwaves all over the globe!

Watch for King Errisson to be appearing soon on the Musik Radio Wall of Success.

How a decaying business model now gives artists new money-making opportunities

April 17, 2013
Post Image

The decaying business model?

The one that takes your talent, promises you everything and gives you back damned little in return…if anything. Just ask Lyle Lovett. He’s sold 4.6 million albums in the United States since 1991…and says he didn’t make a dime.

Decaying business model? Small wonder.

The music label models are dying or dead and don’t know it…decaying zombies who walk the earth thinking they are still alive. They rule the American airwaves with big money. They need fresh blood to survive. But they want the big game. They’re not going to give you a second glance. Or even a first glance. Not now, when it costs $1 million to get a single side played on the radio.

The good news?

Artists and musicians like you are seeing the light. The labels are telling them to go away. And they are. Far away. You don’t have to take it any more. Now there’s a way to have your music heard- and played- worldwide. No it’s not streaming. That’s not a profitable option.  Or downloads. Instead, there’s a proven way to have your music heard by millions. Worldwide.

Music heard plus Music played equals money made.

The key to music success has been around since the first guy beat on a log with a stick and discovered that if people liked the sound they would actually give him something to hear him do it again.  Somewhere down the road he added some strings, found a vocalist and hit the road. There was no radio…no tape, no records, no CDs…no streaming. Bands had to jump onto a bus and take their music to listeners and the listeners would pay. The more listeners who heard and liked their music, the more money made by the band. Along came radio. The recording industry followed. And millions of dollars changed hands. Mostly from one hand in the music label to another hand at their bank.

Pretty clear things have changed.  Hardly anyone is buying CDs, the big labels have nothing to sell, and the retailers who used to sell CDs have called it quits or closed their doors. The future is digital, right? Not so fast.

What we have today is the ‘Big Bang’ of Digital Music.

There’s been an expansion of digital delivery from zero to infinity at the speed of light. Problem is, like our early universe, there’s still a massive void where ideas and concepts are bouncing around, speeding and colliding with each other. Some surviving. Some not.

Some being reshaped by the minute.

There is confusion among everyone in the music business. The big labels are pulling back and not signing new artists. The established artists are experimenting with digital downloads and steaming and not liking it very much at all. Lady Gaga will tell you that.  In one year, on one streaming service, her’ Poker Face’ track was played more than a million times…Lady Gaga made only $167. One million streams. $167.  Not so much a bang as it is the proverbial whimper.

Confusion offers a real opportunity for musicians.

The big labels will tell you to take your music and go away. And we couldn’t agree more.  Things will settle down. The old business models will evolve in time as the big money in the music business figures out how to squeeze everyone involved once again.

In the meantime, now is your chance to get your foot in the front door…by slipping in the back way. The old way to new success.

It’s called radio. On-the-air, terrestrial radio. But it’s not your grandfather’s radio. It’s not even your grandfather’s country.

In the United States, radio listeners have been leaving in massive numbers. At the same time, listeners in other countries have been exploding by those same massive numbers. Foreign radio is not so controlled as our domestic stations. Overseas DJs and PDs actually listen to new music as it arrives…and if they like it they play it.  And if the audience, likes it they pass it along. And an unknown group becomes known very quickly…opening the doors to personal appearances, concerts, and merchandise sales. And even catching the attention of the big labels…if you still want that attention.

Having your music heard and played on radio stations worldwide takes only two things: Musik Radio Promotions and a well-produced track.  We offer you 6.5 billion new on-the-air RADIO listeners worldwide. Specifically, 27,000 radio stations including 90% FM, plus AM…and Internet Radio… in 60 countries. More than 50,000 stations total when you include syndications and sister stations.

Once more…imagine your music heard on 27,000 radio stations including FM, AM, and Internet Radio all over the world in 60 countries.  Once, airplay is established, we can create custom tour packages.

So, what can Musik and Film Records offer to the Indie Artists?

(1) First Class production including development, recording, mixing, mastering, or even personally playing on the recording, co-writing and arranging your work if needed

(2) A REAL way of getting your music heard AND played with Musik Radio Promotions.

(3) Custom touring packages with established airplay. And that’s the short list.

Decaying business model? It all depends on how you look at it.

Chronic Edge Band’s  new EP  ‘Obsession‘ will soon be released to fans around the globe. In the words of Terry Nails, Musik and Film  producer, “the EP is pop-metal, in the vein of ‘Black Veil Brides’ with a Chronic Edge“.

The EP consists of all original songs written by Vinnie DiVencenzo, singer/lead guitar player.  He also co-produced along with the production team at M&F which arranged, remixed, added instrumentals, and did the mastering for this new EP.  Vinnie of Chronic Edge remarks,” it is along the lines of the Chicago rock group’s hard rock roots”.

Chronic Edge has received high praise with previous releases:

Chronic Edge’s retooling of “867-5309” shows that the band has no intention of being a “conventional” group, and is willing to take some chances by messing with a “classic”. Highly recommended!
– Hardrock Haven

Chronic Edge… hidden gem of exceptional and creative melodic rock in the current American indie music scene, and worthy of your full attention.
– Danger Dog

For a preview of  the 5 track EP :  listen to Paranoia, Spinnin’ Round and Sacrifice.
