Adrianna Freeman to Perform at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch

May 20, 2013
Post Image

Adrianna  will spend Memorial Day weekend at the home of one of her childhood idols, when she performs at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, on May 25 and 26.

“Loretta Lynn has always been one of my favorites,” Freeman said. “I love the stories she tells in her songs, and she is one of a handful of female artists who influenced my own songwriting.”

The Ranch, which is Lynn’s home as well as a popular tourist attraction, includes shops, live entertainment and a museum dedicated to the singer’s career. Other artists are scheduled to perform there over the Memorial Day weekend, including Joe Nichols, Joey + Rorey, and Loretta Lynn herself. But for Freeman, one of the few African American female singers in country music, the opportunity is more personal than most, because of certain similarities between Lynn’s early life and her own.

“Loretta Lynn’s father was a coal miner who struggled to support his family in rural Kentucky; my dad was a sharecropper in the South,” Freeman said. “Ms. Lynn had a hard time getting radio stations to listen to her music, and so did I. I am not comparing my singing to hers; she will always be the Queen of Country Music. But she has been such an inspiration, the way she kept going when times were hard.”

Adrianna’s EP, “Either You Do or You Don’t”, promoted to world radio by Musik and Film’s promotional division, Musik Radio Promotions, is #3 on the Cashbox Music Charts.

The Lie About Radio Airplay

May 17, 2013
Post Image

You read articles that give “the truth”– that say Indie Artist can’t get airplay, Right? — WRONG!

It’s a BIG world out there!

Musik Radio Promotions has charted artists in the top 10 in many charts around the world.  Just check out the Wall of Success!

Indie Artists are playing on thousands of stations – some on TENS of thousands.

How, you ask?

Radio outside of the US works differently. The rest of the world for the most part does not have a top 40 that they play over and over. They have what they call “Radio Presenters” . These presenters each develop their own play lists based on what the audience wants to hear. And most stations outside the US are not one specific genre. Most stations play a variety of music and have shows that feature 2 to 4 hours of rock, then pop, then country and every other genre.

Musik Radio Promotions has over 250,000 radio stations in every genre in 80 countries. We literally have just about every radio station in the US, UK, Australasia, Ireland, Scotland, and thousands of stations in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. 98% of our stations are FM stations. We cover most Billboard, Cashbox and many other reporting stations and charts around the world. We promote to most major networks including ECMA, BBC, Sirius, I-Heart and many others.

So, who is Musik Radio Promotions?

Musicians.  Musicians that have toured the world extensively as members of internationally recognized artists.

We realized radio in the US is controlled by major labels known as “Gatekeepers”, meaning Major US radio corporations that positioned themselves as the “Gatekeepers” . They control almost 75% of the US radio market. This left 25% of possible stations within the US that would consider playing an Indie artist’s music. It’s a big world out there and we found out if you can get enough airplay outside of the US, it follows that the US market is then forced to listen and be receptive to playing your music.

How are we doing it differently?

Musik Radio Promotions has developed a program that will deliver a high quality DPK to radio PDs. The DPK  includes the artist’s promo picture, press quotes, web and social links, bios and music. We send the individual DPK to radio programmers all over the world. We do not “blast” and have developed a credible reputation in this industry.

Are we successful?

It’s easy to find out.  How many other sites do you see posting artists names listing pick-ups by the BBC, ECMA and thousands of stations around the world.  Check out the Testimonial Page.

Benefits?

  1. Collect 100% of airplay royalties around the world. A plus-outside the US, royalties are considerably higher.
  2. Touring, it is impossible to successfully tour unless people know who you are. Use the radio airplay and charts to successfully tour any geographical area.

Costs?

We design packages for the artist based on a single or multiple tracks.

How does an artist get started?

Experience has proved to the  team at Musik Radio Promotions what radio will play and will not play. Production of the track is “key”.

Submit your track for review to our team of seasoned producers.

We want your music – heard AND played.

Musik and Film sign NZ artist, Bryce Wastney to Record/Promotions Deal

May 16, 2013
Post Image

Musik and Film has signed Bryce Wastney to a record label and radio promotions package. Wastney will be distributed globally and promoted to over 50,000 radio stations across the planet.

Born in the sunny coastal town of Nelson, New Zealand, Bryce is a classically-trained pianist who discovered a passion for guitar playing in 2003 after a 15 year musical hiatus. Now a well-travelled singer/songwriter, Bryce initially pursued a career as a trade certified boat builder, and worked in both Nelson and Sydney, Australia repairing yachts.

Toxic poisoning from the fibre glass and paint fumes forced Bryce to re-train for a further four years in the late 1990s, graduating from a university in Sydney in 2003 with a visual arts/teaching degree and a newly-found love for the acoustic guitar.

Countless busking sessions in the city and a 3-month gig as a musician on a luxury cruise ship telling stories and singing kiwi classic songs in the cocktail lounge turned Bryce into a seasoned live performer. He also discovered his skills as a songwriter during this time.

In 2010 Bryce released his debut independent album A Perfect Day for Travel. The album gained impressive industry reviews with six songs off the album featuring alongside songs from the iconic Cat Stevens in the multi-award winning New Zealand feature film Last Paradise.

Bryce moved to Melbourne in 2011 and worked in the city as a musician, establishing his reputation on the indie circuit.

In 2012 he released his much-anticipated second album Hope Mountain, recorded in his hometown of Nelson, New Zealand.

Bryce’s latest songs traverse the folk/country genres. Band tracks were recorded live and edited by award-winning kiwi producer, Mike McCarthy at Manuka Studios.

Since returning to live in Nelson in mid-2012 Bryce has been performing with Paul Ubana Jones, Jackie Bristow and Jordie Lane, in addition to touring as a solo performer.

In April 2013 Bryce released his new single “Dead Man Walking” – the first recording to come from his new record deal with USA label ‘Musik and Film’. Bryce worked on the single with MAF production team of world-class producer Stephen Wrench (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rick Springfield), Engineering and additional instrumentation, Terry Nails (Ozzy Osbourne, Axl Rose, Sex Pistols) and Eric Charleton (Dave Weckl).

“It’s amazing what they have done with the song,” Wastney says.  Terry Nails was so impressed with the creativeness of Bryce and compared his song writing abilities to those of Steve Goodman and “Dead Man Walking” to “The City of New Orleans”.

Wastney is quickly gaining a a reputation of being the creator of perfectly crafted folk music.  Since hitting the airwaves a few weeks ago with a campaign by Musik Radio Promotions, the debut single, “Dead Man Walking”,  has quickly gained traction across the world.  The track is now on over 4000 stations and showing up on the top of numerous playing charts.

The game plan for Wastney is to have four songs available through Musik and Film by the end of the year, with a view to potentially releasing an EP.

Musik and Film look forward to working with Wastney on future releases and the success of this very talented musician.

Greg Pope’s classic, When It Gets That Bad, released by Musik Radio Promotions

May 14, 2013
Post Image

“When It Gets That Bad”, Greg Pope’s new single is Oh so good – one of those timeless classics that remind one of The Eagles or Matchbox 20.

Excelling at piano at the age of 8, and guitar at 11, Greg Pope’s drive to understand and master a variety of music – from rock to pop to country – help to shape his unique voice and sound. Ultimately, it was country music that won him, driving him to focus on his songwriting and make the move to Nashville.

Writing with names like Dierks Bentley, Don Pfrimmer and Kyle Cook of Matchbox Twenty, Greg’s skills grew and his resolve intensified. Taking inspiration from country artists like George Strait and Kenny Chesney as well as rock legends like U2 and Journey, he molded those influences into a sound all his own. He searches for stories and melodies in the people he meets and strives to create music that will stand the test of time.

Pope is now signed with Musik Radio Promotions and is gaining a worldwide following with thousands of stations playing his music all over the world including the ECMA reporting stations.

Pope first contacted Stephen Wrench, President, who listened to his music and remarked, “I couldn’t get it out of my head all day”!   Pope comments about Musik and Film, “it’s the professionalism, the pace, and the belief in your artists, that I really love, all awesome things. But what is most important is, I like a plan and forward movement, and you guys have that.”

Greg Pope is most certainly moving forward with distinction on the Musik Radio Wall of Success. His music is playing in heads everywhere!

Greg’s new album, “The Great Unknown”, was released August 1, 2011 and is available on iTunes and CDBaby.

Carol Strickland single, ‘Bitterness and Pain’, feeling no pain with Musik Radio Promotions

May 14, 2013
Post Image

Carol Strickland is feeling no pain these days, as his single, ‘Bitterness and Pain’, is being heard on thousands of stations worldwide.

After signing a record and promotions deal with Musik and Film a few short months ago, ‘Pouring Rain’, Carol’s EP was released for distribution. Musik Radio Promotions began a campaign for the single, ‘Bitterness and Pain’, and immediately captured the attention of radio station managers across the globe including the BBC network and ECMA reporting stations.

Stephen Wrench says of Carol, “he writes with honesty and sings with emotion. Carol draws you in as he tells his stories in song”.

” Without any pretentiousness, Carol Strickland  is true to his craft and easily demonstrates his compassion for each lyric, whether it concerns an abusive father in “Bitterness and Pain”, a love on the verge of being lost as in “Pouring Rain,” or an anthem of encouragement to givers in “Help Your Fellow Man. His “Good Intentions” project is a wonderful collection of a man who feels deeply for life, sings from the soul, and reminds all of us of our frailties and faith. It is his portrayal of faith and understanding of the struggle often to maintain it that sets Carol Strickland aside from other tune smiths.” Wayne Morton Operations Manager (Ret.)96.3 WGOG

Carol states, “After years of struggling to make it to the Country Radio airways and jacklegg promotion companies taking advantage of what money I had to spend. GOD brought me MUSIK AND FILM and I am more than satisfied. STEPHEN and Rhonda have truly brought this dream of mine to life. Being picked up by the BBC AND THE ECMA. Having more spins in 48 hours than I’ve had my entire music career.

And Carol can look forward to many more “spins” to come!

Adrianna Freeman, rising country star, climbs the charts on cashbox with promotions by Musik Radio

April 20, 2013
Post Image

Cashbox Magazine Music Charts, has been reporting Adrianna Freeman’s song, “Either You Do or You Don’t” for weeks.  The week of April 12, 2013 is no different as she charts at #2 along with country greats such as Ashley Monroe, Tim McGraw and Martina McBride.

Adrianna’s career as a country artist had stalled after being chosen as one of 12 artists with Teddy Gentry’s Cracker Barrel Contest for “Best New Nashville”. Adrianna’s bio states, “In accordance with the Best New Nashville album’s May of 2011 release, a national competition was launched, where fans were asked to vote for their favorite artist. The facilitators’ of the contest told Adrianna that she won the competition by a landslide. Even after winning the contest and Mr. Gentry’s star-power, Adrianna was still being told that there was no “market” for her music”.

Finally in the summer of 2012, after being introduced by Cathy Lemmon of Nashville’s ADN, Adrianna met with Stephen Wrench, President of Musik and Film. and he was blown away by Adrianna’s voice. Adrianna signed with Musik and Film Records and a global radio campaign was began by Musik Radio Promotions.

In Oct. 2012, Adrianna received accolades from Brian Clough, CMA International Broadcaster of the Year 2009, after receiving her DPK from Musik Radio Promotions.  Clough wrote, “Sheer class… an eclectic mix of light and shade of mid tempo and gentle songs which shows off her vocal range and quality, sometimes smokey and gentle, but always meaningful and believable.” Clough’s glowing review of Freeman catapulted her debut album, Either You Do or You Don’t‘ ,to quickly gain traction in the BBC network.

Adrianna is now charting on too many charts to list, but is being played on 60,000+ stations all over the globe. Her “market” is the world. Because of the massive amount of airplay, Adrianna received due to the strategy of Musik Radio Promotions, Adrianna has now caught the attention of some of those in Nashville, and is now recording a new album.

Adrianna recently stated, “Stephen I just want to thank you and Rhonda-I have worked for 11 years, playing second fiddle to everyone else. Being looked over and passed over for other artists. It feels so good to be with people who believe in me and my music. For so long I felt like it was just me, my family, a notebook , and some songs. I have been promised so many things by so many people in the music industry that I thought I would never be able to trust anyone else in this business again. BUT- I trust you and Ms. Rhonda! I am so thankful that God lead my family to you, I really can’t thank you guys enough for helping to renew my faith in this business once again. With God’s help- I am starting to really believe that we can go all the way!!!!”

Adrianna Freeman is on her way!

Musik Radio is a major radio promotion company, with 27,000+ verified 95% FM radio stations in our database;  150,000+ with syndication, which is available to artists and labels. Musik Radio’s  Wall of Success has artists charting all over the world!

How a decaying business model now gives artists new money-making opportunities

April 17, 2013
Post Image

The decaying business model?

The one that takes your talent, promises you everything and gives you back damned little in return…if anything. Just ask Lyle Lovett. He’s sold 4.6 million albums in the United States since 1991…and says he didn’t make a dime.

Decaying business model? Small wonder.

The music label models are dying or dead and don’t know it…decaying zombies who walk the earth thinking they are still alive. They rule the American airwaves with big money. They need fresh blood to survive. But they want the big game. They’re not going to give you a second glance. Or even a first glance. Not now, when it costs $1 million to get a single side played on the radio.

The good news?

Artists and musicians like you are seeing the light. The labels are telling them to go away. And they are. Far away. You don’t have to take it any more. Now there’s a way to have your music heard- and played- worldwide. No it’s not streaming. That’s not a profitable option.  Or downloads. Instead, there’s a proven way to have your music heard by millions. Worldwide.

Music heard plus Music played equals money made.

The key to music success has been around since the first guy beat on a log with a stick and discovered that if people liked the sound they would actually give him something to hear him do it again.  Somewhere down the road he added some strings, found a vocalist and hit the road. There was no radio…no tape, no records, no CDs…no streaming. Bands had to jump onto a bus and take their music to listeners and the listeners would pay. The more listeners who heard and liked their music, the more money made by the band. Along came radio. The recording industry followed. And millions of dollars changed hands. Mostly from one hand in the music label to another hand at their bank.

Pretty clear things have changed.  Hardly anyone is buying CDs, the big labels have nothing to sell, and the retailers who used to sell CDs have called it quits or closed their doors. The future is digital, right? Not so fast.

What we have today is the ‘Big Bang’ of Digital Music.

There’s been an expansion of digital delivery from zero to infinity at the speed of light. Problem is, like our early universe, there’s still a massive void where ideas and concepts are bouncing around, speeding and colliding with each other. Some surviving. Some not.

Some being reshaped by the minute.

There is confusion among everyone in the music business. The big labels are pulling back and not signing new artists. The established artists are experimenting with digital downloads and steaming and not liking it very much at all. Lady Gaga will tell you that.  In one year, on one streaming service, her’ Poker Face’ track was played more than a million times…Lady Gaga made only $167. One million streams. $167.  Not so much a bang as it is the proverbial whimper.

Confusion offers a real opportunity for musicians.

The big labels will tell you to take your music and go away. And we couldn’t agree more.  Things will settle down. The old business models will evolve in time as the big money in the music business figures out how to squeeze everyone involved once again.

In the meantime, now is your chance to get your foot in the front door…by slipping in the back way. The old way to new success.

It’s called radio. On-the-air, terrestrial radio. But it’s not your grandfather’s radio. It’s not even your grandfather’s country.

In the United States, radio listeners have been leaving in massive numbers. At the same time, listeners in other countries have been exploding by those same massive numbers. Foreign radio is not so controlled as our domestic stations. Overseas DJs and PDs actually listen to new music as it arrives…and if they like it they play it.  And if the audience, likes it they pass it along. And an unknown group becomes known very quickly…opening the doors to personal appearances, concerts, and merchandise sales. And even catching the attention of the big labels…if you still want that attention.

Having your music heard and played on radio stations worldwide takes only two things: Musik Radio Promotions and a well-produced track.  We offer you 6.5 billion new on-the-air RADIO listeners worldwide. Specifically, 27,000 radio stations including 90% FM, plus AM…and Internet Radio… in 60 countries. More than 50,000 stations total when you include syndications and sister stations.

Once more…imagine your music heard on 27,000 radio stations including FM, AM, and Internet Radio all over the world in 60 countries.  Once, airplay is established, we can create custom tour packages.

So, what can Musik and Film Records offer to the Indie Artists?

(1) First Class production including development, recording, mixing, mastering, or even personally playing on the recording, co-writing and arranging your work if needed

(2) A REAL way of getting your music heard AND played with Musik Radio Promotions.

(3) Custom touring packages with established airplay. And that’s the short list.

Decaying business model? It all depends on how you look at it.

Chronic Edge has received high praise with previous releases:

Chronic Edge’s retooling of “867-5309” shows that the band has no intention of being a “conventional” group, and is willing to take some chances by messing with a “classic”. Highly recommended!
– Hardrock Haven

Chronic Edge… hidden gem of exceptional and creative melodic rock in the current American indie music scene, and worthy of your full attention.
– Danger Dog
