Matthew Schultz continues the momentum with a modern dance tune, “ Promise For Keeps”. Released worldwide through Musik Radio Promotions, has gained global airplay, charting on Top 10 Euro Charts and was just #18 On Music Week for Commercial Pop Club Charts. “Musik & Film are my “go too” company for the best music promotion. Their Worldwide Radio and DJ Pools are the largest in the industry. Every release I put through Musik & Film finds its way on the music charts!”

Matthew may have a parallel career in the corporate world by day but it is what he gets up to when he takes the suit off which is most interesting about New York’s Matthew Schultz. He is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer who earned his stripes playing guitar in Chris Daughtry’s first band, he also has diversified into Film and TV work but it was his first single Money or Me and an Independent Music Award nomination that really put him on the musical map. Talent and hard work, it would seem, are not in short supply with this artist.

His new single, Promise For Keeps, builds on the impact of a string of subsequent releases, being a tune which is nothing short of the perfect slice of dance for the modern market. He neatly splices elements of electronic dance music and pop infectiousness with techno-dancehall, house and Reggaeton. Not only a wonderful genre-hopping blend of modern dancefloor styles but a cultural clash of sassy old-school latin groove, reggae heat and more futuristic clubland sounds. It is also a song with a depth that most dance floor hits don’t possess, rather than the usual flippant stance or throwaway lyricism, here the protagonist of the piece is contemplating long-term commitment to the love of his life. Dance music fueled by experience and responsibility is something that definitely sets him apart from the pack.

A remix of “Promise For Keeps”,  features the Jamaican reggae singer Gyptian, who is very successful in his own right. He has been having hits in the Jamaican charts since 2005 and had crossover success in 2010 when his song Hold Yuh reached 91 in the Billboard Hot 100, followed by an album of the same name which reached number 2 in the Billboard Reggae charts. Hold Yuh went on to become a chart hit worldwide. The track contains vocals from both Gyptian and Matthew Schultz, with the original song given a radical musical transformation. Keeping the essential melody, the music is given a dancehall, reggae-fusion vibe in the vein of Major Lazer, Tory Lanez and Partynextdoor. It has been produced to a very high standard by Schultz himself and Johnny Thomas Jr.

The laid-back tropical, reggae-tinged rhythm gives the track a slinky, syncopated groove that is guaranteed to work well on the dancefloor. Gyptian gives a smooth-as-honey vocal performance that fits perfectly with the vibe of the music. He performs the majority of the vocals for this version, with Schultz interspersing at certain points throughout, which helps add a little variety and his own stamp on the remix. Overall, this is a highly enjoyable and inventive reinterpretation of the original Promise For Keeps rather than a standard remix, which surely seems destined to become a massive hit in the clubs.

In keeping with previous singles such as Crazy Heart (ft. Alessia Guarnera) and We Own The Night (feat. Jim Jones) and the recent house remix version of this track by Follow The Moon, the latest single looks set for big things. So far he has notched up a number one placing on the Independent Music Charts and Beatport and he has accumulated a huge following on Facebook, Instagram, Spotify and Twitter of over 500,000 fans in the process.

No matter which Promise For Keeps is your favorite, it looks set to keep the upward momentum going, it sits easily alongside mainstream dance-pop crossover hits from artists such as Taylor Swift, Drake and Justin Bieber but it will also find favor with the tastemakers and followers of dance music’s more underground scenes. In short the perfect blend of effortlessly commercial and cooly cultish, a recipe which will surely find Matthew Schultz a household name in no time at all.
