Biography
With the release of his debut album “Love & Grief”, Matthew Browning blends several classic genres to breed a sound all his own. Lush with melodic progressive songwriting and instrumentation, an edgy but soulful vocal approach, and plenty of pop sensibility, the record boasts the feel of alternative pop anthems.
Music blogger Prog Head writes, “Mesmerizing atmosphere is one of the most important factors here. In an album of such high grade, it’s really impossible to pick out highlights. The space of this record gives Matthew Browning a chance to show off his awesome, expressive, and textural voice.”
“The album as a whole is musically eclectic. We intentionally wanted an album that was musically diverse, yet had an instrumental consistency. I think listeners will find songs that are very different in terms of structure, but consistent in terms of musicianship and breathable space. Each of the musicians on this project is nothing short of amazing, and I think the whole album demonstrates their collective energy and talent. All of the songs bear a slight theatrical element, and maintain an organic, earthy sound throughout.” says Browning of creating the record.
Veteran DJ and music journalist Artur Chachlowski writes, “I cannot listen to ‘Love & Grief’ without a deep respect and specific anointing, which is always present when communing with a masterpiece. I am not afraid of the importance of this term … ‘Love & Grief’ is not just a contemporary masterpiece of prog rock, but a timeless album that we will remember for many years to come.”
Having a love for music from a very young age, Matthew Browning began his own musical journey at only 3 years old with makeshift recordings for all who would listen. By 13 he was co-writing with other artists for studio recordings and in high school formed his first band Seraph. Studying music theory in college along with his own personal growth has allowed his sound to evolve over the years all without losing his theatrical rock edge.
Matthew is currently in pre-production for his highly-anticipated follow-up album, expected to release in late 2019.
