—- — For Washington native Matt Newton, the holidays have become a way to sing into the spotlight with his single “Catch a Snowflake.”
The holiday single, launched last month, was released on 180,000 radio stations worldwide and is in rotation on 5,000 stations in the U.S.
According to the website Digital Radio Tracker, the single is No. 16 on the National Airplay Top 50 Rock chart and No. 14 on the National Airplay Top 50 Adult Contemporary chart.
“I tell you it was crazy, surreal,” Newton said.
The idea for “Catch a Snowflake” came from producer and friend Thornton Cline. Cline wrote the song and earlier in the year, he asked Newton to come in and sing. The two have worked together and during the summer, Cline asked Newton to come in and record the song.
